J.CO Donuts & Coffee

We were told that J.CO is the "in" thing at the moment. Think Bread Talk meets Starbucks selling donuts. It's no surprise that after conquering Malaysia and Singapore, this three-year-old Indonesian brand will reach Philippine shores soon.

All the drinks I asked for were sold out, so I chose Almonetta, which is a wonderful beverage, even without the cream. Beverages come with a Glazzy, a glazed donut. We sampled three fancier donuts and rated them with our "yes" vote (one spoon). However, our system is flawed because two of the donuts were mislabeled and so our expectations were different. But here they are anyway.

Clockwise from top right:
Don Mochino slight coffee flavor. One out of three spoons
Coco Loco (mislabeled as Heaven Berry) we thought it was supposed to be berry flavored when it was actually dark chocolate inside and out. Negative three out of three spoons
Miss Green T (mislabeled as Alcapone) an unexpected taste for its color. Two out of three spoons

PW had told us that Alcapone was her favorite, so we got what we thought was that. Turns out Alcapone is made of white Belgian chocolate and almonds. We will have to start over and rate correctly. The staff could be a little more responsible.

Maybe the ratings weren't the best, but we really liked J.CO. It didn't hurt that the cafe ambience was there, from the interesting sofas and nice little tables to the soft lighting. Looking through their website, their innovations sound fit for bagels, not donuts: Da Vin Cheez with garlic sprinkles and cheese, and Mona Pisa with "rosy cheese" and chicken sausage. We'll check them out when they get here.

  1. I'm not really a big fan of donuts (they're usually too sweet for me) but those look delicious! Did the green tea one actually taste like green tea?
