For your MP3 collection, part 26

motorela
motorela in Camiguin

I really meant to stop at part 25, then just continue via a new music podcast, but it turned out to be more work than I can sustain, so I'm back to regular programming.

Off for a much-needed long break. Back on the second week of December. Here's some music to get you through until then.

Astronauts of Antiquity:"Strangest Places"
-played in dimly lit places
Audio Fiction:"Way Out"-easy to learn
Best Coast:"When I'm With You"-lazy fun
Emily in Love:"Sow the Seeds"-it's not complex
Feldmaus:"Lively Inner Shore"-discovery island
Jonathan Boulet:"A Community Service Announcement (The Album Leaf Remix)"- thanks for the concern
The Lights Galaxia:"While She Sleeps (Morning Edit)"-peaceful sunrise
Mojo Morgan:"Tonight"-alt to BEP
Solange:"Stillness is the Move" (Dirty Projectors cover)-lovable sis
Umphrey's McGee:"Made to Measure"-don't hesitate to try
Vampire Weekend:"Horchata"-sweet as the drink

International eats

The lowest priced set meal at Secret Recipe is P149.50: soup (minestrone as mushroom was out of stock), french fries, tom yum spaghetti and iced tea. Odd combination, but very filling.

paella valenciana

The Paella Valenciana at Las Paellas (Robinsons Galleria, Festival Mall, Greenhills Shopping Center) serves two to three. The half-hour wait is worth it. The pitcher of sangria is good for up to four... unless you're somewhat thirsty.

Lagoon afternoon

The boat back to CDO was late, so we passed the time at the lagoon not far from the pier.

tablea y lanzones

Two more treats: rich homemade Maestrado cocoa and very sweet lanzones, which grows all over the island (and is always teeming with black ants!).

lanzones

The price of the lanzones fruit varies according to the season. When there is oversupply, it can go down to less than P10 a kilo but can go upwards of P80 when there is not much to be found. In early September, the price was P30 to P35 a kilo.

Vjandep

Vjandep is perhaps the most popular brand to come out of Camiguin Island. There's a self-service canteen near the "lighthouse"...

and of course, the famous pastel, shown here with yours truly (mow-del daw). It's sooooo good!
