Talk about six degrees. If I understood it correctly, I slept in the room of the roommate of the sister of the girlfriend of the brother of the best friend of Anais. It's not common to take in strangers in France, so we were extremely lucky.
Staying in a flat meant that we had a great stay in Paris (and we could hang our laundry in private). Nevermind that it's seven flights up the spiral staircase (no elevators). We got good exercise and a lovely place to call our own in the 11e arrondissement of Paris, within the vicinity of Bastille.
We came the day after the Bastille Day celebrations, so we missed a lot, but Paris was still lovely. (Getting drenched the second night and an encounter with an exhibitionist near the Tour Eiffel notwithstanding.)
Don't forget us, Paris. We will be back someday.
