Myeongdong Cathedral

myeongdong catholic cathedral

Myeongdong Cathedral, the center of Seoul's Catholic community, is located at the heart of the Myeongdong shopping district. According to our cabbie, Catholics make up the second largest religious group at around 25% of the population. Protestant churches are the largest; Buddhism is third.

Observing the Mass, there are few people in t-shirts, some women in white veils, no kneelers, and everyone lines up for offertory to drop the collection in a jar.

Most ground floor areas in Seoul are occupied by commercial establishments. This one at a nuns' center is no exception.
