L is for Lovely

It's hard not to like Leeds. It's hilly, pretty and unpretentious. Case in point: Harvey Nichols is a few steps away from Primark. It feels safe in this patch of Northeast Yorkshire. The population is diverse but the place feels English, the university campus is sprawling yet so close to the compact city centre. I think it's a great place for study.

More things that made me smile: jaw-dropping architecture and pink sunsets (no photos, unfortunately).

I stayed in one of the Bed & Breakfast places along Woodsley Road, just off the campus, and stuffed myself with English breakfast every morning. The all-male South Asian staff were very polite. Maybe that doesn't make up for the broken window, but I felt at home.
